On Sandy's advice a few months ago, I bought some Berryman's Chemtool and begun putting it into my IROC 5.7liter and my S-10 2.8liter. I swear by this stuff, works wonders. Anyway, this past week I put a bottle in my wifes Mazda 626 and my friends Kia Sephia. Oddly enough, shortly after, both cars began to have rough idle upon starting and the Kia had all sort of problems after I put this stuff in...but thats probably just cause it;s a Kia. What do you guys think> Is this a coincidence or is this stuff not formulated for smaller engines?

I bought a bottle of it 2 weeks ago for my 4cyl Tacoma and experienced no trouble at all. The only thing that I can think is that perhaps the Chemtool knocked some crud loose and that is why it was idling a little rough. If that's the cause, it should go away, I would think.

I have to agree with Al. I used a bottle in my Sentra and it really smoothed out it's engine. And it did wonders for the iroc. Sometimes, people don't do anything to keep their fuel systems clean, so I think that dirt was knocked loose. They might want to get their fuel filters changed but I'm sure the problems will clear themselves. And possibly leaving those engines running a lot better...

Yeah, thats what I'm thinking. I mean, my wifes car is only 2 years old. It;s got 40K on it. I just wanted to make sure I didn;t screw the car up at all.

I wonder if I'm using the right stuff. I noticed a different sort of can near the Chemtool today. The stuff I have been using is in a red/white/blue pur can. I saw some stuff today that was in a can with all sorts of colors on it. It was Berrymans fuel system treatment and ha a pour spout. Am I using the right stuff?

2 years and 40Kmiles is plenty of time for lots of dirt to build up in the fuel system. The stuff I use is in a white, blue and red container. Says it can be used either as a crank case cleaner or fuel system cleaner....I think it's a 16oz pour can.

Which product is it. If you go to their site: http://www.berrymanproducts.com/default.htm you see two different fuel cleaners (one has a long-neck bottle, near end of page and the other a taller can)that look the same. Sounds like this is a good product. Do you find it at any auto parts store?

It's under $3 at pepboys...1/2 the price of most of the other cleaners thier...And for me it did the most good...The stuff will actually eat thru styrofoam...which I believe is a petroleum type product.

Oh, that sucks...you can;t order anything from thier website. I guess they can;t make a habbit of shipping combustables like that. Crap, I wanted to buy a case or two. I always get the last 2 bottles when I go to Auto Zone.

Well if I could find enough bottles of it, I'd put it in the IROC everytime I fill up. I use nothing but Amoco ultimate and Berrymans when i can get a can of it.

The stuff I use can be used for both crankcase cleaning AND as a fuel system cleaner. It contains a lot of Toluene, I think, which is a major solvent of petroleum materials. That's why it comes in a metal can only. It'd desolve right thru any plastic based container...

Thanks for the info. I put some in my work truck and wife's car last night. I'll see how it works before I put it in the IROC. Has any one used their diesel products? I agree with Grampz, I really don't like to add anything but oil in the case, has anyone used the b12 in the crankcase? Also what is lol?

I don't use crankcase cleaners as I've always used Amsoil synth oils. My partner does as well. When Ford removed the valve covers and did a compression check on 3 cylinders of his 1995 Explorer, they said the inside of the valve covers and valve decks where almost clean enough to eat off of and compression/leakdown was like that of a new engine. The engine has 100kmiles + on it. No need for any cleaners for that one! ..lol...And both my engines feel new and both have almost 100kmiles on them as well...
