It's rained for the last 18 days so far this month. I've taken the iroc out maybe just a few times. The air here is so saturated with moisture, it's literally falling as a super heavy mist with very fine water droplets.
It's so humid, I can't get my main ride waxed as theres always a moist film on the paint...Can't wait for some sunny weather to come in!!

Did you move to the Pacific Northwest and not let anybody know?

It looks like another dry year here. I don't know what the rainfall numbers for last winter were, but the last 2 years we have had an average of 2.5 inches. I think we had a little more this year, but probably not more than 4 or 5 inches and well below our average of 13 inches.

Haha, yes Sandy life sure flies by. I miss my Iroc and once in awhile would lurk on here. I am looking forward to getting another Iroc or perhaps an LS1 car as they are plentiful and getting a lot cheaper. How is your car been running?

The iroc is running the best it's ever run. I just put a fair amount into it and had it gone through with a fine tooth comb. For the last 3 years, it was running with the wrong EPROM the dealer put in. It took me a long time to figure it out. Now with that straightened out and the other stuff I had done (new valve stem seals), it's running like a raped ape and has a almost newish feel to it....

Very nice Sandy, it is amazing what a little bit of work can do. So no more smoke on start up, I loved my Iroc but even though it ran great that smoke on start up was a bit embarrassing.

One of the things I did was have a compression test done to the engine. It took longer to do #s 7 and 8 as it took to do the other 6 cylinders. The TES headers made it extremely difficult to get the tester plug in for the testing. The engine passed with flying colors showing 150-160 psi for all cylinders with only a 6% variation between adjacent cylinders. New engines show a similar measurement. Not bad considering my engine has between 140-150Kmiles on it....And I only changed to oil once a year, too...of course, I've used synthetic oil for the life of the engine along with a 25µm depth oil filter. I was told the tops of the heads had no sludge and only had a light staining. The insides of the valve covers were completely clean. I feel the extra expense of using synthetic oil has paid big dividends in this respect....

Sandy, your car sounds like it has been well taken care of by you. I am certainly going to spend the extra money on synthetics on my next camaro, I just cant wait until I get another one. 3rd gen camaros especially Irocs are getting tougher to find in good shape but atleast out here no rust really, just paint fade.

I think it's cheap mechanical insurance. Of course, if the engine is already in marginal condition, synthetics won't help.
I've been talking to Dave Staubli of 3rd Gen USA. He's a 3rd gen recycler. Even he's seeing a huge drop in available used parts. And the cars coming in are in miserable condition. A 4rth gen is probably the most economical way to get a high performance RWD V8 car. Then again, I was looking at a gently used '08 'vette coupe....

I pass a new red Z06 every morning at a dealership and it sure is sharp. If only I wasn't a poor government employee...

Try out a ZR-1... It's as close to a exotic performance machine as one can get for the $$$.
